That was the first album I ever owned. It was a birthday gift from my Dad's secretary. She said she bought it because her daughter liked the group. Believe me, it was a very strange record back then and I would never have stumbled on it on my own. But, since it was the only album I had, I listened to it over and over again. Now, the CD is here in the garage with me at all times. My song now is, "Who Am I?'
Who am I? To stand and wonder To wait While the wheels of fate, slowly grind my life away?
If you still have the album, play that song and think of the old, Smoking Christian, locked forever in the "Garage of Joyless Rage" here in sunny-to-a-fault Fullerton.
PS: And who can forget this little ditty-
"Now, if you're tired and a bit run down, can't seem to get your feet off the ground, maybe you ought to try a little bit of LSD! (Only if you want to.) Shake your head, it will rattle your brain. Make you act just a bit insane. Give you all the psychic energy you need. Eat flowers and kiss babies, L...S...D! For you and me....."
But, my favorite song is "Janis." You know, he dated Janis Joplin and was a very bad boyfriend. I'm sure he must regret his behaviour then.
PSS: I certainly hope your son stays safe in the USAF.
Thanks for revealing a little of your own personal walk down memory lane. I can't believe I stumbled on a significant piece of the SC's musical heritage! Can we actually have discovered some musical common ground?
Wheaton College '74, Wheaton Grad School '77, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School '81.
I have been married to Mia for nine years. We both lost our first spouses to cancer. We have a wonderfully blended family of seven kids from 29 to 15-year-old twins. Aaron, Caleb, John, Ben, Elizabeth, Anna, and Mary.
I am the planting pastor of New Hope Community Church in Shafter. We're just now getting started.

I think we have found the source of your adult-onset high blood pressure.

Dear SC,
Thanks for revealing a little of your own personal walk down memory lane. I can't believe I stumbled on a significant piece of the SC's musical heritage! Can we actually have discovered some musical common ground?
